Energy agreement obliges companies to save energy

Companies pay attention to! Additional energy inspectors have been appointed by the government to enforce the agreements made in the energy agreement. Prevent you from being sanctioned and take measures!

Energy agreement and energy saving

The earth is warming up. Faster than ever. For that reason, various parties (government, employers, employees, and environmental organizations) have made an agreement with each other to keep global warming below 2 degrees. These agreements were laid down in the energy agreement in 2013. One of the important objectives in the agreement is to make an additional contribution together in the field of energy-saving. In this context, the parties involved agreed, among other things, to work towards the realization of energy-saving measures.

Recognized measures for energy saving

Every company that uses more than 50,000 kWh of electricity is forced to take energy-saving measures. These energy-saving measures must have a maximum payback period of a maximum of five years. Less is of course also allowed. You can find more information on the website of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment. Via this link, you can see which recognized energy-saving measures are offered per sector. The recognized energy-saving measures include the replacement of traditional indoor and outdoor lighting with LED lighting for each sector. So now, more than ever, it pays to switch.

Maintenance of energy saving

It is now 2016 and the targets set in the energy agreement for 2020 have not been achieved. This is because not all companies are aware of all renewed measures. In addition, the government has not sufficiently enforced past environmental laws in the past. This means that companies do not always take the energy agreement seriously. In order to ensure that the target from the energy agreement for 2020 is achieved, State Secretary Dijksma has decided to appoint additional energy inspectors. These inspectors visit companies for inspection, whether or not unannounced. Energy inspectors are authorized to impose a penalty on companies that do not comply with the agreements.

Cost-saving measure

In addition to switching to LED lighting, you save energy and ensure that you meet your legal obligations, it also provides you with a substantial saving in costs. To illustrate, the average saving is around 50% for an average industrial building.

Light bulbs out LED lighting in it

Light bulbs

These days it is clear to everyone. The LED lighting is better and cheaper than the traditional light bulb and the energy-saving lamp. So that old lamp breaks; light bulb out, LED light in it. Earlier is of course also possible. But which LED lamp should you choose? Due to the popularity of LED lighting, there are more and more different types on the market. And there is a big difference in quality. What exactly should you pay attention to when you purchase LED lighting?

Quality features that you can see

You can argue about the taste. Not about quality. Some of the LED lamps on the shelves simply do not do what they promise. These LED lamps, for example, do not reach the number of burning hours on the package. But where can you see this? What should you pay attention to? In many cases, cheap is expensive. Is an LED lamp somewhere really substantially cheaper than the regular selling price, then you can assume that this lamp will lose quality. But can you also see it in other things? Honest? It is not always possible to see from the outside whether a LED lamp is of good quality. What you can pay attention to are certain quality characteristics. Is it a solid LED lamp, does the LED lamp have a cheap plastic housing or not? These are questions that you can answer by studying the LED lamp well.

Quality features that you cannot see

As mentioned, there are unfortunately also certain quality properties of an LED lamp that you cannot see on the outside. Even if you examine him very thoroughly. For example, it is extremely important that the heat from the LED lamp is sufficiently removed. In addition, it is also of great importance that the transformer/driver of the lamp is of good quality. If this is not in order, then this has an effect on the life of the lamp. It simply becomes too hot, so that it can burn out. It is also of great importance that the electronics in the LED lamp are of high quality. Not visible on the outside. Be aware of this when purchasing LED lighting and ask questions about this before you proceed with the purchase.

Quality from LED Design

There are many companies that import LED lamps from China or other low-wage countries on their own initiative. Often no quality checks are carried out on these LED lamps. This is not required by law. At LED Design we do everything we can to guarantee the quality of the LED lamps. We do this by specifying ourselves what our LED lamps must meet. And believe us; this is a whole laundry list. For example, we measure product specifications with measuring equipment.

Watt or Lumen with a new lamp?

Wat, you say? Lumen? With the rise of LED lighting and the displacement of the traditional light bulb, a number of new terms and techniques have been introduced. For the average user, it is sometimes a bit of a search to find out which light intensity belongs to which lamp. LED Design Crest helps and puts everything in a row for you.

Tip in advance: determine the purpose of lighting

Before you run to the store to get a lamp, it is good to think about the purpose of the lighting. Do you want a lamp that has soft colors and therefore brings more atmosphere? Or do you buy a lamp that you can read with? When you have this clear for yourself, you can search and select more effectively. You can then better estimate how many Watt or Lumen your lamp should be.

What is Watt Led Design Crest's helps? How Watt is Lumen?

Most people who think of the power of light think of the term '' Watt ''. This term is derived from James Watt: the inventor of the steam engine. Later the indication to indicate the amount of energy per second was named after him: the unit '' Watt ''. This is the Watt as we use it today for lighting. 1 Watt = 1 joule / second. So when you buy a 50 Watt lamp, this lamp converts electrical energy into light and heat at a rate of 50 joules per second. That is the technical story. But what we want to make clear with this is that the amount of Watt of a lamp says something about the power of the lamp.

LED Design Crest helps: what is Lumen?

In addition to the number of watts of a lamp, you will undoubtedly also come across the indication Lumen. But what exactly does Lumen mean? Lumen is a unit to indicate the light intensity of a lamp. This, therefore, indicates how much light is emitted by a lamp in total. The difference between Watt and Lumen is that Watt indicates how much energy is consumed by a lamp and that Lumen says something about the actual light output. The latter is actually the most relevant for determining which lamp best fits the lighting objective that you have previously determined. Watt says something about how much this goal will cost you. The higher the number of watts, the higher the energy consumption and therefore the costs of the lighting.

Convert from Watt to Lumen

Despite the many conversion tables that circulate on the internet, it is not possible, with LED lighting, to convert Watt to Lumen. This is actually not necessary either. When it comes to LED lamps, you would prefer to have as much light as possible (read: Lumen) with as little watt as possible. You save considerably on lighting costs. At LED Design Crest, for example, we have LED lamps/fixtures that already generate 150 lumen / Watt, for example. The type of lamp also determines how many Lumen it generates. Prior to your purchase, it is therefore advisable to engage an expert. When you are at LED Design Crest, you can always count on the expert advice of one of our qualified lighting specialists.

Inefficient lamps are prohibited in the EU

Since 1 September 2012, incandescent light bulbs may no longer be marketed in Europe. The original plan was to have this ban also apply to halogen lamps as of 1 September 2016. However, this ban has been postponed until 2018.

Incandescent and halogen lamps will disappear

The EU sets stricter requirements for the energy efficiency of lamps. Incandescent lamps and (some) halogen lamps do not meet these requirements. Therefore, since September 2012, incandescent lamps may no longer be marketed. Stocks from wholesalers and stores may still be sold, but in the end, the light bulbs will disappear completely from the store. The same applies to the (most) halogen lamps from September 2018.

Which lamps disappear (immediately)?

Matte halogen lamps with threaded fittings (E14 and E27) have not been permitted for a number of years. From September 2018, this will also apply to clear halogen lamps with threaded fittings. For the time being, halogen lamps with other fittings are permitted until there are sufficient and affordable energy-efficient alternatives on the market. Immediately Prohibited are:
  • GU10 spots
  • GU5.3 spots (MR11, MR16, MR20)
  • EcoClassic reflectors (R39, NR50, NR63, R80)
  • PAR (par16, par20, par30, par38, par56)

Savings: 40 billion kWh

The saving that the ban brings is not tender. The European Commission has calculated that the ban will save more than 40 billion kWh in 2020. The diagram below shows how much each type of lamp saves compared to the light bulb.

Benefits of LED lighting

The LED lighting provides a huge saving for both the environment and your wallet. But what other advantages are there compared to traditional lighting? We list it below:
  • Shockproof
  • No harmful substances in the lamp
  • Switch on and off often
  • The instant maximum light intensity

LED office lighting

Led Projection light

When choosing new office lighting it is important to make an informed decision, which is the best option for your company. The quality of light is, of course, a logical point of attention, but energy-saving and therefore cost saving can also be an important factor. These are the most thoughtful arguments for LEDs, but there is more. Are you considering opting for LED office lightingThen it is good to think about the following points!
Why would you opt for LED office lighting? For Crest LED Design, LED lighting is, of course, a logical choice. A workplace with LED lighting is illuminated by means of a sustainable and ecological light source. The LED lighting in the workplace emits less heat than conventional light sources and for that reason causes a huge windfall on the energy bill. Yet there are more things to think about when choosing LED office lighting.

The lifespan of LED office lighting

An LED lamp generally has a long service life. This is not only useful in terms of little replacement, but it also ensures that you save on energy costs. LED office lighting lasts no less than five times as long as, for example, conventional fluorescent lighting. But unfortunately, the lifespan of one LED lamp does not say everything about the lifespan of the entire LED installation. During the lifetime, the individual parts of your LED office lighting will give less light. That is why it is good to think about the ideal lighting situation for your office before you make a hasty decision. Are you still unsure about LED office lighting? Then let LED Design Crest advise you on a suitable LED installation that performs maximally for your company over a long period of time.

The LED lighting in the office: a real atmosphere creator

Another point to think about is the atmosphere that LED lighting provides in the office. Which color temperature suits your desired office situation? Although you may have thought that LED office lighting could only provide bright white light, the technology has now reached the point where all light shades are possible. What suits your office best: a strict white tint or a warm color temperature? Are you considering LED office lighting, but you are not yet convinced of all options? We would like to tell you all the possibilities for the ideal new LED lighting in the workplace.

Increase productivity with LED lighting in the workplace

You might not expect it, but if your office space is incorrectly lit, this can have a great effect on the performance of your employees. For example, conventional fluorescent lighting has a lot of vibrations in the light, while LED office lighting is vibration-free. These vibrations can cause physical complaints, also unnoticed. That makes the choice for LED office lighting even more logical. It has been scientifically proven that LED lighting in the workplace has a positive effect on the concentration and productivity of your employees.
